HELP PC THAT BEEP AT STARTUP

Beeps when the PC starts

Know the meaning of the beeps emitted by the speaker (loudspeaker internal of the PC), can be useful in many situations. Unfortunately, the number of beeps indicates not the same problem for all computers. It is the conceptual companies of Bios who chose the correspondence between a number of beeps and this or that problem. There are currently 3:

  • Ami (American Megatrends Incorporated)
  • Phoenix
  • Award (which merged with Phoenix since September 98 technology)

Note: If your Bios is not included here, surf to BiosCentral which lists no less than 8 different Bios. Go to the BIOS Beep Codes category !
For its type of Bios under Windows, the easiest way is to run the DirectX diagnostic utility that will provide you with the model Bios. For this, go to "Start" then "Run" and enter the following command: dxdiag

Phoenix

Phoenix information is very specific. You have a number of beeps, a pause, again beeps, pause etc. Please restart your computer to not fool you. Different versions are on the market.
